Our Bharat, the land of yoga, is home to a lifestyle that emphasizes the harmony of mind, body, and soul. In today’s fast-paced life, staying healthy is more important than ever. Yoga is an ancient practice that can help us stay physically and mentally fit. The good news is that you don’t need to master complex asanas. There are a few simple yoga poses that every Indian can practice daily for good health.
Tadasana, also known as Mountain Pose, is a basic yet powerful yoga pose. It helps to straighten your body, improve posture, and bring stability. To perform it, stand straight with your feet slightly apart and your hands by your sides. Gently ground your heels and the balls of your feet firmly into the earth and stretch your body upwards. Take a deep breath and hold this position for a while. This pose makes you feel energized throughout the day.
Trikonasana is a wonderful pose that opens your legs, knees, hips, and chest. It improves digestion and also helps in reducing stress. Stand with your feet a little wider than shoulder-width apart. Bring your right hand down towards your right foot and raise your left hand upwards. Turn your neck to look towards your left hand. Stay in this position for a while and then slowly return to the normal position. Repeat on the other side.
Bhujangasana, known as Cobra Pose, strengthens the lower back and opens the chest and shoulders. It also helps to relieve stress and fatigue. Lie on your stomach, with your legs straight and hands under your shoulders. As you inhale, slowly lift your head and chest. Keep your navel grounded. Stay in this position for a while and then slowly come down as you exhale.
Balasana, or Child’s Pose, is a relaxing pose that helps reduce stress and anxiety. It also stretches your back, hips, and thighs. Sit on your knees and spread your feet behind you. As you exhale, bend your torso forward and rest your forehead on the ground. You can extend your arms forward or backward alongside your body. Rest in this position for some time.
While not an asana, Anulom Vilom is an important breathing exercise that everyone should practice daily. It calms your mind, reduces stress, and improves the respiratory system. Sit in a comfortable position. Close your right nostril with your right thumb and slowly inhale through your left nostril. Then close your left nostril and exhale through your right nostril. Now inhale through your right nostril and exhale through your left nostril. Repeat this for a few minutes.
These are a few simple yoga poses that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine. Remember that consistency is key. Even a few minutes of daily practice can have a positive impact on your health and well-being. So, embrace yoga from today and take a step towards a healthier life!
